October – Summers dragging it’s feet…

October saw the last of our family return to Joburg. They were all a great help with Bella & Seth, our awesome Life Group clubbed together & brought us delicious meals for the 1st week. Actually the food was so good that we are thinking of having another baby…joking, that stork has been shot.

Bella is doing very well & Seth is an awesome big brother.

I love my Bella

World Cup Rugby

Even though SA bowed out in the quarters, we were all happy to see NZ win & especially the boys in the community as they are all ‘Sonny Bill Williams’ when we play.  NZ has a very large following in the coloured communities. You even see the Silver Fern painted on some houses in Grabouw. Many reasons for this but it’s time we got the people to support the same team & come together…in time.

Community

The long wait for the container is over.

The rough draft

We are currently in talks on how best to serve the community with this big chunk of metal. We have outreach teams just waiting to assist in the renovations as it is very raw at the moment so watch this ‘space’.

Kids

Homework Club, Mentorship & Friday Night Youth has kept the children & teens busy. It’s a testimony to the leaders who work alongside us on a Friday evening on how the kids are starting to respond after ten months of love, care & especially the Gospel. The heart is catching up with the mind.

Administration Assistance

Two new residents have new CV’s & we are praying they get employment. If you remember the young man who came to us a few months ago as addict, he has kept his job at the recycling centre & the owner has even set him up with a caravan to stay permanently on site doing security as well. The temptation is hectic as this is right next door to the scrap metal site where he used to bring scrap to fund his habit. So far he has resisted & doing well. All these guys need is a nudge in the right direction & lives change…& all glory to God as none of it was possible without Him.

KFC Challenge

‘The challenge’ has returned & three bible stories were viewed during mentorship, a small test out of twenty was written & one lucky guy got Kentucky. The others with lower scores were still blessed but the race is on to see how many can get to the good old red & white chicken house.

Creche – Aunty Lettie

Since the teams have been busy with the crèche, the new windows have gone in, the garden has increased in size & most importantly the number of kids has grown. We are sitting on 11 children at the moment which is a huge improvement. I’m not sure if this is a renewed understanding on the mom’s side or just to get us to stop nagging them to send their children. We have taken the horse to the water so many times, it’s eventually starting to drink, ha ha. Pray it continues.

Garden is started (Before)

Veggie garden is growing (Present)

Clothes, prams etc. have been donated by friends & the church & the ladies have managed to keep themselves & their families going on the little they make from the sales. The Municipality has also donated new toys & equipment to us which is not for sale but blesses the children. Big thank you to all involved.

We just want to thank everyone involved. This work would not happen without you so please know you are an integral cog in this wheel…thank you.

All our love

Daz, Lees, Seth & Bella
