Festivities

It’s that time of the year again. We all start slowing down a bit, spending time with loved ones & eating a bit too much…

2015 has been an interesting year for Lighthouse Mission & the Muir Family. From the last blog you could see what has been achieved in the practical, which is always nice to see but we often miss what goes on spiritually or emotionally. It hasĀ been a year of reflection. After spending the last five years in a very hostile environment, learning & growing, God gave us rest from the emotional side of working with large groups of people & allowed us to take a step back & rest in His strength & see His favour with the new Lighthouse Base taking shape.

Lettie has continued to be a massive part of that & after living in horrible circumstances for many years, is now seeing God’s provision in many ways after being so faithful with the little. She calls the Base her little piece of heaven. Our recent Christmas blessing for the kids & their parents went off a treat & our latest addition to the creche (classroom) was utilised well & will go on to school the older kids in 2016.

Our friend & long-term volunteer, Tim Berger, has also been on a journey of sorts & has made the decision to travel back to the States & pursue his future. You can follow his blog at www.prayfortim.com

Tim has helped us build, repair & prepare for the future in many practical ways & we will miss him. He is praying on how best to support us from the States & I am sure he will still venture out with the odd Mission group, which is how we originally met. Thank you for all you’ve done boet, & we wish you all the best for the adventure in the US of A

Farewell Tim

.

We also say farewell to our WESSA students who we have been mentoring for this year. We trust they have learnt a lot & are ready for what the world will throw at them. They have been a big help & I am sure we will see more of them as time goes on.

Next year we move into a new season the Lord has been preparing us for. Lisa has been helping at Applewood Prep with their Occupational Therapy & Play Therapy which has been a huge blessing to her & the school. She will continue working there for three days a week & be at Lighthouse the remainder of her time.

Our original vision is still very much at the front of our praying & thoughts & God has opened up amazing opportunities for this to start taking shape. Our vision is to still rehabilitate & make disciples through family empowerment & education seems to keep ‘jumping ‘onto our path. In addition to the the Little Rascals Creche we have, with 20 children & their families He has added another ECD (Early Childhood Development) centre with 170 children to Lighthouse Mission. Daunting, but where He provides, He gives us the strength & ability to deal with everything in His way. Watch this exciting space.

At this special time of the year when we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, we hope & pray that you all have many special moments with family & friends & hope most of you get a well-deserved rest before 2016. Merry Christmas & a brilliant New Year.
